PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing head driving circuit which can return a printer in a short time to a state in which the printing action can be resumed if the printer is in a standby state. SOLUTION: A driving command signal from an ASIC is applied to a DAC, a bias voltage control circuit 41 and a charging control circuit 67. A capacitor 37 is charged with electricity from a DC power supply of 5 V through the bias voltage control circuit 41 and a resistance 35. The charging control circuit 67 turns on a semiconductor switching element 69, whereby the capacitor 37 is charged with electricity from a DC power supply of 42 V through a current amplifier 23 and a track for quick charging 71. Charging stopping through the track for quick charging 71 is carried out by application of a charging stopping control signal from the charging control circuit 67 to the semiconductor switching element 69 in accordance with a charging stopping command signal applied from the ASIC to the charging control circuit 67.
