PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curable fluoroelastomer having improved sealability such as improved permanent compression set in O-rings. SOLUTION: This ionically curable fluoroelastomer based on vinylidene fluoride (VDF) comprises (a) 100 pts.wt. of a fluoroelastomer based on vinylidene fluoride (VDF) and substantially not having a polar terminal group, (b) 0.1 to 0.35 phr. of an accelerator, (c) 1 to 15 phr. of a curing agent, (d) 2 to 20 phr. of one or more inorganic acid acceptors, preferably a divalent metal oxide, (e) 0 to 3 phr., preferably 0 to 1.5 phr., of one or more basic compounds, preferably a divalent metal hydroxide or a weak acid metal salt, (f) 0 to 80 phr. of a reinforcing filler, and (g) 0 to 3 phr. of a processing co-adjuvant.
