PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the sewn article from being stained with lubricant oil during sewing. SOLUTION: The tubular lock stitch sewing machine 100 is provided with a cylinder 1 forming a tube with open tip, the upper part of which has a machine bed and the tip of which a shuttle room 12, a circulating mechanism 17 at the bottom of the shuttle room, a shuttle 3 which is fixed in the shuttle chamber and driven by the rotation of the shuttle shaft 13, an oil feeding means 4 to feed lubricant oil from the shuttle shaft to the shuttle race cover 31, a needle plate 5 fixed at the notch at the upper part of the cylinder and the clothe feeding roller 6 mounted beside the needle plate in the shuttle room to deliver a sewn object N on the needle plate synchronized with the drive of the shuttle. A shield 7 is disposed to block off the lubricant oil splashing from the shuttle, between the cloth feeding roller and the machine shuttle, at least covering the area from the hook 31a ahead of the tip of a cylinder part to the proximal end of the cylinder part of the bottom 32a of a shuttle 32.
