PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microorganism-preserving gel without requiring an expensive large scale device, capable of preserving the microorganisms under a normal temperature stably over a long period and also capable of confirming the viable state of the preserved microorganisms, presence or absence of the contamination of other harmful bacteria, or the like, with naked eyes. SOLUTION: This microorganism-preserving gel enabling the preservation over the long period is provided by forming a biofilm with the microorganisms. As an example of a medium for forming the biofilm, a gel obtained by gel formation of a material containing an inorganic salt compound and a carbon source by the addition of a gelling agent is cited.
