<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus capable of automatically performing such a color shift correction mode and confirming the autonomy of the apparatus related to color shift correction without directions of performance of the color shift correction mode according to a worker or a field engineer after assembly in a plant or after overhaul in the installed and used site. <P>SOLUTION: In the color image forming apparatus provided with color shift correction mode, a color image is formed on a recording sheet by superposing respective color toner images, the amount of color shift upon the superposition of the respective color toner images is detected and, in accordance with the detection value, the correction of formation positions of the respective color toner images is performed. The color image forming apparatus is further provided with a means for storing the completion of the color shift correction mode when the color shift correction mode is completed and a correction mode performance section which refers to the retained result of the storage means after the starting of an apparatus body and, when it is determined that the color shift correction mode is not completed once in the past, performs the initial color shift correction mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
