PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for supplying a material, which apparatus can simply and appropriately adjust the gripping condition of the material. SOLUTION: Gripper devices 4, 7 grip and release the material by means of upper fixed grippers 2, 5 and lower movable grippers 3, 6 at specified timing. The gripper device 4 can slidingly reciprocate along guide rods 28, 29. A first spring member 27 energizes the lower movable gripper 3 upward via a first slide member 31 and the guide rod 28. A second spring member 48 energizes the lower movable gripper 6 upward via a second slide member 42. A gripper distance adjusting device 50 vertically moves the material gripping portions of the lower movable grippers 3, 6 in order to adjust the distance between the material gripping portions of the lower movable grippers 3, 6 and the material gripping portions of the upper fixed grippers 2, 5.
