<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an anti-Babesia agent, particularly can be used as a chemotherapeutic agent with reduced side effects and can provide a Babesia-preventive and/or therapeutic agent having high anti-Babesia activity. <P>SOLUTION: This anti-Babesia agent contains a compound that is extracted from plants of Curcuma xanthorrhixa, Curcuma zedoaria or Phyllanthus niruri and has anti-Babesia activity. The active ingredients of this invention scarcely shows side effect and can be used as the preventive and/or therapeutic agent for the Babesia infection diseases. In addition, this invention also comprises the extraction, purification and separation method for the compounds having the anti-Babesia activity from the plants of Curcuma xanthorrhixa, Curcuma zedoaria or Phyllanthus niruri. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
