<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drug sustained release hydrogel material that has large drug uptake and can control the sustained release rate of the drug, and contact lenses and eye lenses using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The hydrogel material is obtained by polymerizing a monomer mixture containing a target drug, a monomer bearing a specific functional group that can form a physical crosslink structure together with the target drug and satisfies the formula (1): y ≤ 0.277x - 10 (1) (wherein (x) is a molar concentration (mM) of the monomer bearing the specific functional group, (y) is the molar concentration (mM) of the target drug, where (x) is 50 to 800).
