PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle and an opening/closing control method of an opening/closing means that can open and close a flap even if an inexpensive driving means is used and the noise accompanying the opening and closing can be reduced. SOLUTION: In a flap control program, based on a contamination state by exhaust gas detected in S2, the number of detections is increased when it becomes from a non-detection state to a detection condition in S3. Clocking for 10 minutes is performed in S4, and, during the clocking, the detection frequency is determined based on the number of detections of the exhaust gas. It is determined to be under traffic congestion when the detection frequency is high, and the flap is driven to be in the half-opening state when exhaust gas is not detected (S5:NO, S6:YES). When the exhaust gas is detected at this time, the full closing state can be obtained with a driving amount smaller than that for the full opening state, and quick closing of an outside-air introduction duct can be performed.
