The device is designed as a profile (4) of an appropriate shape inserted between the two front support bars (2, 3) of the vehicle and provided with facilities for joining the dashboard and other items like an airbag or the steering column (6). A vibration absorbing element (7, 8) made of a memory metal is located at both ends (9) of the profile (4) and at the steering column (6). The unit (1) can be connected to an electronically operated control device.
