<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus which can accurately detect the edge of a recording material without inducing malfunction. <P>SOLUTION: The image recording apparatus is equipped with: a recording drum which rotates as mounting a printing plate on its periphery; a recording head 12 to record an image on the printing plate mounted on the recording drum; a rotary encoder 42 to detect the position of the rotation angle of the recording drum; first and second sensors 21, 22 which can detect the printing plate mounted on the recording drum; a detection range setting circuit 54 which sets the detection range of the first and second sensors 21, 22 depending on the material information of the printing plate, reflectance information of the printing plate and presence or absence and kinds of positioning holes formed in the printing plate; and a judging circuit 56 which accepts signals from the first and second sensors 21, 22 based on the rotation position of the recording drum and the detection range set by the detection range setting circuit 54 and judges the position of the edge of the printing plate mounted on the recording drum. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
