<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide anode active material consisting of oxide of iron and sodium mainly, for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, by which the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery having characteristic that discharge voltage does not fall rapidly with discharging is realized, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The anode active material consists of composite oxide containing mainly iron and sodium, and has hexagonal crystal structure, wherein value made by dividing strength of a peak in a surface length of 2.20 Å by strength of a peak in a surface length of 5.36 Å which are measured in X-ray diffraction analysis of the composite oxide is 2 or less. The manufacturing method of the anode active material for the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a process in which metallic compound mixture containing mainly sodium compound and iron compound is heated in a temperature range from 400 to 900°C, wherein the anode active material is heated in inert atmosphere in a temperature range less than 100°C during the temperature rise. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
