<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical device for implementing fluid drainage while preventing patient discomfort. <P>SOLUTION: A retention disk and a valve 40 are provided on a ureteral stent with an elongated tubular member 20 on which a lumen 26 is formed. The retention disk has a plurality of nearly axial, spaced-apart collapsable struts 32 which are interconnected with the proximal end part 28 of the tubular member 20 at one end and terminate at the other end and a membrane 34 closing a space between the plurality of struts 32 so that a nearly tubular part communicating with the lumen 26 is formed as a retention disk lumen 39 in the inside. Each strut 32 has a widthwise folding hinge 33 dividing the length of the strut 32. The retention disk is adapted to show an expanded state that each strut 32 is unfolded and substantially straight and a free-resting state that each strut 32 is folded at the folding hinge 33 to form an inverted umbrella-like disk-shaped configuration as the entire retention disk or to form an adaptable shape for a ureteral orifice. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
