<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CDMA system whose peak-to-average power ratio is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The invention is a method and apparatus for generating a code book used in the CDMA system. The code book is composed of a plurality of vectors used for coding a user data. An amplitude and a polarity of each vector of the code book are selected, to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio. Amplitude value can be selected, to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio, while maintaining a desired average energy per chip. The desired energy per chip can be based on energy per chip in the CDMA system, having a lower-order spreading factor. Furthermore, performance can be improved, by using a first code book under the condition of a first signal-to-noise ratio, and by using a second code book under the condition of a second signal-to-noise ratio. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
