PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader in which a foreign material on a surface of a reading glass plate can be removed in simple mechanism. SOLUTION: In a sheet-through type image reader for reading a document from the downside of a reading glass plate 13 in the process of feeding the document on the surface of the reading glass plate 13, a piezoelectric element 21 is provided as a vibrating means for vibrating the reading glass plate 13.
