PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, keeping proper cleaning properties for a long period, causing no image fault and being improved in the durability of the photoreceptor and cleaning member. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus having a photoreceptor, an electrifying means, a developing means and a cleaning means, the photoreceptor shows 150 to 240 N/mm<SP>2</SP>universal hardness HU under a pressure of maximum 6mN load by a hardness test, using a Vickers square-based pyramid diamond indentor in an environment of 25°C and 50% RH, and 43% to 65% elastic deformation rate We. The cleaning means has at least an elastic blade. The photoreceptor shows a contact angle with pure water satisfying (1) (θs use)≥65°and 0.7≤(θr use)/(θs_use)≤0.9, wherein (θs_use) represents the static contact angle after 50×1,000 times of image formation, and (θr_use) represents the receding contact angle after 50×1,000 times of image formation.
