PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high durability image forming method by suppressing image deletion, scuffing of a photoreceptor and loading on a blade in an image forming method in which a photoreceptor having high wear resistance is used and residual toner after transfer is removed from a surface of the photoreceptor by blade cleaning. SOLUTION: In the image forming method comprising a charging step of bringing a member into contact with a photoreceptor having a protective layer; an electrostatic latent image forming step; a developing step; a transfer step; and a cleaning step of removing residual toner after transfer, the protective layer has a universal hardness HU of 150-240 N/mm<SP>2</SP>and an elastic deformation ratio of 44-65%, and the toner contains at least inorganic fine powder of perovskite type crystals in which an average particle diameter of primary particles whose particle shape is approximately a cube or a rectangular parallelepiped is 80-220 nm and in which particles having a particle diameter of aggregates of≥800 nm occupy≤1% by number.
