PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pencil lead more improved in thickness and fixation than ever. SOLUTION: This pencil lead is formed by impregnating a baked lead material with a gel-like impregnating component composed of a medium, a substance, and a 14-50C organic compound having a polar group, wherein the medium comprises one kind of material, or a mixture of two or more kinds of materials, selected from a group comprising a liquid paraffin, a spindle oil, a silicone oil, squalane, and anα-olefin oligomer, and the substance comprises one, two, or more kinds selected from a group comprising a dextrin fatty acid ester, a hydrogenated castor oil, a fatty acid amide and its derivative, tribenzylidene sorbitol, dibenzylidene sorbitol, an acylated amino acid, polyethylene wax modified by an N-substituted fatty acid amide, bentonite, and silica, so that the pencil lead giving thick handwriting with difficulty in staining (high fixation) is obtained. Thereby, such problems that conventional pencil leads for giving the thick handwriting obtained by impregnating the baked lead material with the liquid paraffin, etc., make graphite in a handwritten line adhered to the hand, when the thick handwriting given by the conventional pencil lead is rubbed by the hand, etc., and stains become conspicuous, because the graphite is spread on paper, are solved.
