An apparatus and method for combining in real-time a first real-time input stream of images taken by a digital source, such as a digital microscope or an add-on camera for an optical microscope, during an observation and manipulation session, with a second stream of images. The combined stream is converted in real-time and presented on various display devices in various formats and display options.
