DYE AND OPTICAL FILM FOR FLAT PANEL DISPLAY DEVICE

Disclosed is an optical film, comprising a direct dye having absorption wavelength ranging from 550 to 600 nm. The optical film improves color purity by effectively blocking neon light, which is generated during driving of a flat panel display device, and enhances contrast by reducing internal reflection without an additional color compensation layer or color compensation film. This optical film can be applied in a variety of flat panel display devices, particularly as an optical filter of a plasma display.
