PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a refrigerant from being stagnated in the indoor heat exchanger and a liquid side connection pipe of an indoor unit stopped by adjusting the openings of electric expansion valves when heating operation including the stopped indoor unit is performed in a multi-chamber air conditioner formed by connecting one outdoor unit to a plurality of indoor units. SOLUTION: Electric expansion valves are installed near the end of the liquid side pipe of the outdoor unit. Supercooled refrigerant temperature sensors for detecting a supercooled refrigerant temperature are installed between the electric expansion valve and a liquid side pipe connection valve to detect the supercooled refrigerant temperature in heating operation. By a means for controlling the electric expansion valves so that the supercooled refrigerant temperature on the operation side and that on the stop side form a lower one among a specified temperature difference calculated by using the supercooled temperature on the operation side and a specified temperature difference calculated by using the rotational speed of a compressor, the refrigerant can be prevented from being stagnated in the indoor heat exchanger on the stop side and the liquid side connection pipe to properly operate a refrigerant circuit.
