PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a domestic elevator to communicate the downstairs with the upstairs in a house so as to simplify the assembly work, enhance the versatility and reduce the cost. SOLUTION: A through hole is formed in a ceiling part between the first floor and the second floor of an existing house, and a hoistway 2 to communicate the first floor with the second floor is constituted by connecting a first part 3 provided downstairs, a second part 4 provided on the ceiling part between the downstairs and the upstairs, and a third part 5 provided upstairs. The second part 4 is assembled via the through hole from the second floor, and an elevating/lowering body 17 is assembled from the second floor so as to be internally fitted to the first and second parts 3, 4 to simplify the assembly work.
