PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficiently character input method with a relatively simple operation using a key board, and electronic equipment with the character input method. SOLUTION: Saving of function keys and saving of the number of key inputs are attained by simultaneous input operation of a plurality of data keys in a keyboard. Omitted key input is performed without providing a specified shift key or function key. A Kana input by Roman alphabet input is efficiently performed by the simultaneous key input operation. A character input equal to a multi-tap type character input used in cellular phone is efficiently performed by the simultaneous key input operation.
