A plethysmograph is constructed with a base (14) including parallel, horizontal guide rails (26); an open-ended, moveable enclosure section (12) having a horizontal central axis (H) slidable on the guide rails (26) between open and closed positions; a fixed enclosure section (16) mounted on the base (14) transverse to the horizontal pathway, the fixed enclosure section (16) including an inner face (38) toward an open end (22) of the moveable enclosure section (12) adapted for sealing engagement with the open end (22) of the moveable enclosure section (12) when the moveable enclosure section (12) is in its closed position; and a support table (18) attached to the fixed enclosure section (16), the table (18) projecting into the moveable enclosure section (12) when the moveable enclosure section is in the closed position, the table (18) being vertically adjustable and having an angularly adjustable longitudinal axis. <IMAGE>
