PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce remaining defocusing amount while sufficiently restraining the hunting of a photographing optical system, in a focusing device automatically adjusting the focusing state of an optical equipment. SOLUTION: This device is constituted of a focus detecting means 2 detecting the focusing state of the photographing optical system 1, a focusing judging means 3 finding the adaptability of focusing state which is previously decided in accordance with the focusing condition, and judging that the device is in the focusing state with occurrence probability shown by the adaptability, a target set means 4 keeping the target driving position of a previous time in the case the focusing state is judged by the means 3 and updating the target driving position based on the focusing state detected by the means 2 in other cases, and a control means 5 driving and controlling the system 1 in accordance with the target driving position set by the means 4. |
