Network and method for transmitting data between applications with proprietary interfaces

The network (40) has applications and/or their data that are processed at locations (42-50) with different installation types (I-IV), whereby the applications can be coupled via a data broker for data transmission, data transmission is conducted using requests and responses in the form of XML messages via the data broker and the different locations have different capabilities in terms of storage and/or distribution of data for the applications depending on their installation types. An independent claim is also included for a method of data transmission between applications with proprietary interfaces.
