Method and apparatus for the initial control of the adjustement of gravure cylinders of a rotary multicolor printing press

The angular displacements of engraved cylinders (C1-Cn) are indexed with respect to reference cylinder. The web length separating printing points of successive cylinders, is divided by peripheral length of cylinder arranged downstream with respect to web traveling direction. Each cylinder is fixed in angular indexing position, and disconnected from common transmission line, after which cylinders are simultaneously reconnected. An independent claim is also included for apparatus for initial adjustment of peripheral register of printing units.
