The nodal unit (1) for joining several bars of an areal support structure comprises a star-like configuration of arms (2) whose plane side surfaces (3) are oriented to form required angles with the plane of the unit. Independent claims are also included for: (A) an area support structure with the proposed nodal units and bars; (B) a sealing element for a node unit and bars joined to it; (C) a sealing system consisting of such sealing elements; (D) an areal support structure with cover elements.
