Geared electric motor with a fail-safe assembly (2) has a housing (4), electric motor (3), step-down gear (5), at least a planetary gear (6), an electromagnetic coupling (11), output shaft (13) and a magnetic stator (21). The latter has a coil (15) that induces a current in a hollow wheel (10) to prevent its rotation. The hollow wheel acts as a magnetic anchor. It is axially displaceable and its geometrical alignment cannot be changed during shifting in or out of the electromagnetic coupling.
