An adapter (17) for securing to the casing (1) of the device contains an oil supply channel connected to the nozzle for directing a jet of oil against a turbine wheel (20) and an oil return channel connected to the drive chamber (19) containing this wheel. A device for purifying crankcase gases from an internal combustion engine (M) comprises a casing containing a separation chamber (4), a centrifugal rotor (5) mounted inside the chamber and rotatable about a vertical axis, a drive shaft (6) for the rotor extending downwards from the rotor through the separation chamber base (11, 12) into a separate drive chamber located beneath the separation chamber, a turbine wheel mounted on the drive shaft inside the drive chamber and a nozzle for directing a jet of pressurised lubricant oil from the engine against the wheel in order to make it rotate and drive the rotor. An adapter can be releasably secured to the casing so that one of its surfaces is in contact with an engine surface and this adapter contains an oil supply hole for communication with a corresponding oil supply hole in the engine surface and an oil return hole for communication with a corresponding oil return hole in the same engine surface. The adapter contains an oil supply channel extending between the oil supply hole and nozzle and an oil return channel extending between the drive chamber and oil return hole.
