Audio data can be more easily recorded or reproduced. A sequential combination of a first channel LPCM sample (301-1) through a fourth channel LPCM sample (304-1) in audio data produces a GOLS (310-1), and a combination of an even number of GOLS produces an audio frame. Header information is added to the audio frame to produce an audio PES packet, which is then multiplexed with a video PES packet and then recorded into a recording medium. As a result, the number of bits of audio frame is an integral multiple of 32, which increases compatibility with a recording/reproducing device.
