PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a processor from reading in wrong data code in processing before the processor is started. SOLUTION: In a communication path between the microprocessor (MP) 111 and boot memories 115 and 117, a PLD 121 is interposed. The boot memories 115 and 117 store MP starting data necessary to start the MP 111 and a starting protection code that is a protection code for the MP starting data. The PLD 121 reads in the MP starting data and starting protection code from the boot memories 115 and 117, uses the starting protection code to check whether or not the MP starting data are valid by hardware, and resets the MP 111 upon a negative check result or inputs the starting data read into the MP 111 upon a positive check result.
