PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a water amount with excellent precision through the use of a flow rate sensor even when nonuniformity by individual exists in the flow rate sensor which is arranged in the water supply pipe of a mist generator. SOLUTION: The mist generator comprises: a heat exchange tank 3; a sheathed heater 5 for heating water which is stored in the heat exchange tank 3; the water supply pipe 4 for supplying water to the heat exchange tank 3; the flow rate sensor 10 arranged in the water supply pipe 4; a control part 40 for calculating the amount of water which flows into the heat exchange tank 3, based on the output of the flow rate sensor 10, and managing the water amount; and an upper level sensor 13 for detecting the full water of the heat exchange tank 3 . The generator includes a function of detecting the full water of a water storage part by using the upper level sensor 13, heating the water in the water storage part by the heater, and sterilizing the inner part of the water storage part by high temperature. The control part 40 monitors the output of the flow rate sensor 10 during a period till the heat exchange tank 3 is filled with water in a high temperature sterilization mode, and performs calibration to raise precision in calculating the water amount by using a monitoring result.
