PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ribonucleic acid-amplifying reagent composition capable of improving amplification efficiency in amplifying a ribonucleic acid by reverse transcription reaction and PCR in a consecutive single step, to provide a method for amplifying a ribonucleic acid using the composition, and to provide a reagent or kit for the method. SOLUTION: The ribonucleic acid-amplifying reagent composition for amplifying in a single step a ribonucleic acid using at least one enzyme comprises (a) a component for converting to a deoxyribonucleic acid a ribonucleic acid contained in the sample by an enzyme having reverse transcription activity and (b) a component for amplifying a deoxyribonucleic acid complementary to a target RNA by an enzyme having DNA polymerase activity. This composition also contains a nucleic acid oligomer composed of a single kind of base.
