<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain sufficient deceleration effect by avoiding the interference between a driving force and a braking force while giving a feeling of acceleration to a driver according to the operation of an accelerator pedal. <P>SOLUTION: A target torque T<SP>*</SP>is set by the sum of a deceleration torque Tc for achieving a target deceleration to secure stable turning travel and a driver request torque Te corresponding to the operation amountθth of the accelerator pedal (step S5-S7). When the deceleration torque Tc and the driver request torque Te satisfy ¾Tc¾<¾Te¾, engine control is executed to generate a driving torque equivalent to the target torque T<SP>*</SP>instead of performing braking control intervention (step S9).
