<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a settlement method for reducing the costs of an EC site without making it necessary for a user to newly register settlement information in a server exclusive for settlement. <P>SOLUTION: A mediation server is set between an EC site and a settlement site. At the time of detecting the selection of settlement by a user, the EC site generates a settlement request telegram for the mediating server, and transmits it to the mediating server. At the time of receiving the settlement request telegram for the mediating server, the mediating server generates a settlement request telegram for a settlement site, and transmits it to a settlement site. At the time of receiving the settlement request telegram for a settlement site, the settlement site generates a settlement result telegram for the mediating server, and transmits it to the mediating server. At the time of receiving the settlement result telegram for the mediating server, the mediating server generates a settlement result telegram for the EC site, and transmits it to the EC site.
