<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress throughput degradation to the maximum extent even at the time of shifting to normal communication, while maintaining power saving. <P>SOLUTION: In a communication apparatus 1 for transmitting data to another communication apparatus via a transmission line, and receiving data transmitted from the other communication apparatus by sensing a carrier for detecting a signal from the other communication apparatus; a controller 14 is provided for specifying either an intermittent operation mode, in which a predetermined suspension period and the above carrier sensing period are executed alternately, or a continuous operation mode, in which the above carrier sensing operation is executed continuously. When starting the data transmission to the other communication apparatus by means of a frame, the controller 14 instructs start of transmission with a predetermined long preamble length if the start frame is a first frame after a predetermined suspension period, while the control 14 instructs start of transmission with a predetermined short preamble length if the data transmission by means of the above frame is a reply of a particular response. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
