METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING LIGHT DIFFUSING FILM, ANTIREFLECTION FILM, AND POLARIZING PLATE USING THE SAME, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a light diffusing film which is free from surface whitening in black display and from point defects by coarse particles without decreasing light diffusing performance to improve visibility and which shows high production yield, to provide an antireflection film having a low refractive index layer applied on the above light diffusing film, to provide a polarizing plate by using the antireflection film, and to provide an image display apparatus equipped with the antireflection film or the polarizing plate.

SOLUTION: The light diffusing film has a coating layer of a light diffusing layer containing light transmitting fine particles in a light transmitting resin, wherein the light transmitting fine particles are preliminarily subjected to filtration in an emulsion state or a dispersion liquid state prior to compounding into the coating liquid for forming the light diffusing layer. The antireflection film uses the light diffusing film. The polarizing plate uses one of the films, and an image display device is equipped with the antireflection film or the polarizing plate.
