INTERMEDIATE TRANSFER BELT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent scatter in image middle section and insufficient transfer at image ends, which occur in the secondary transfer section of an image forming apparatus using an intermediate transfer belt. SOLUTION: Using the intermediate transfer belt having at least two or more layers, the range of a proper transfer voltage in the secondary transfer section is made wide, and the resistance of the intermediate transfer belt is set higher in an either image end than in an image middle part. This reduces current leaking from the ends of the intermediate transfer belt and facilitates the generation of an electric field on toner images at the image ends. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
