PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector plug which is easy in insertion and pulling working and which can protect the edges of a ferrule. SOLUTION: The optical connector plug has a plug frame 30 storing the ferrule 3, and an external housing 2 mounted on the outer periphery of the plug frame 30 so as to be slidable along the axial line direction of the ferrule3. In between the plug frame 30 and the housing 2, a spring 38 biasing the housing 2, with respect to the frame 30, forwardly in the axial line direction; and at the tip end of the housing 2, an opening 11, with which the ferrule is penetrated is formed, by using the optical connector, and when connecting to a receiving-side optical connector, the housing 2 due to the engaging with the receiving-side optical connector retreats in opposition to the biasing force of the spring, and when the housing is pulled out of the receiving-side optical connector, the housing 2 due to the biasing force of the spring 38 is made to protrude farther forward than the jointing end surface 3a of the ferrule 3.
