PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pointer generator capable of restraining a ghost from being generated. SOLUTION: This optical pointer generator is provided with a laser beam source 7 as a point light source capable of generating a laser beam 6, an aspherical lens 8 for converging the laser beam 6 from the laser beam source 7, a cylindrical lens 9 and the like for converting the laser beam 6 converged by the aspherical lens 8 into a linear form, and a mirror 10 for changing a direction of the laser beam 6 converged by the aspherical lens 8 into the linear form to be projected on a meter face 1, and a ghost cutting mask 15 is provided in an optical path of the laser beam 6 to shield the laser beam 6 reflected to a laser beam source 7 side by the mirror 10.
