PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for a molding having adsorptivity from pearl oyster shells to be a recycling technique which gives rise to a possibility of large quantity demand of pearl oyster shells and has a high value-added as to the pearl oyster shells generated in large quantity. SOLUTION: A silicon component and an alkaline aqueous solution are added to decarbonated powder obtained by pulverizing the pearl oyster shells and calcinating the pulverized powder or decarbonated powder obtained by calcinating the pearl oyster shells and, thereafter, pulverizing the same. Thereafter, porous bodies of powdery calcium silicate hydrate are prepared by performing hydrothermal synthesis at a temperature in the range of 100°C to 250°C and under the saturated vapor pressure. Then, other raw materials are added to the porous bodies to form a mixture and the mixture is subjected to compression molding or the porous bodies are subjected to compression molding as it is, so as to exhibit adsorptivity for volatile organic compounds.
