PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load supporting device for fixing and stably supporting a load support, such as a shelf, at a desired position without exposing a support base part. SOLUTION: The load supporting device includes a supporting member formed with a full-length flat guide groove having an opened front surface, an expanding fixing member 10 fitted to the guide groove 3 of the supporting member 2 and expanded at a desired position to be locked and fixed, and a load supporting member 20 expansively fixed to the expanding fixing member 10 by orthogonally attaching the base end part. The supporting member 2 is fixed on the body side of a building or the like, the expanding fixing member 10 is fixed at a desired position in the guide groove 3 of the supporting member 2 by the load supporting member 20, and the base part of a supporting arm 30 is secured and held by the load supporting member 20 so as to support an object to be supported (shelf board).
