<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double-structure power drive system with mixed serial/parallel configuration which directly drives a load from engine power, to actuate the load as serial power system when it is light and to drive the load from the engine power when it is a usual size. <P>SOLUTION: Operating function is provided in serial type power or parallel combination type power, and the load can be directly driven from the engine power. The load when it is light can be operated as the serial power system, and the load when it is ordinary is driven from the engine power. Further, in the case of mounting a charging/discharging equipment in the system, in addition by a first electric machine unit, or by a second electric machine unit and by either one of this first or second electric machine unit; a motor is operated by electric energy of the charging/discharging equipment, and the load can be driven in cooperation with the engine power.
