<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with which a non-image area is securely discharged by the pre-transfer discharge lamp and light irradiation of a photoreceptor with the pre-transfer discharge lamp can completely be blocked during and after the passage of transfer paper. <P>SOLUTION: The pre-transfer discharge lamp 70 is disposed upstream of a transfer belt 51 inside a transfer unit 50. The position in which the photoreceptor 20 is irradiated with light from the pre-transfer discharge lamp 70 is expressed by the following formula: (the length AB of an arc on the photoreceptor)>(a distance AC to the leading end of transfer paper). The apparatus has the function of judging the transmissivity of the light of transfer paper P and controlling, based upon the transmissivity of the light, whether the light irradiation of the pre-transfer discharge lamp 70 needs to be conducted or not. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
