<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can prevent a copying user from being kept waiting due to printer outputting after the copying user starts copying start preparation working by a mechanical operation other than an operation part key input, and to provide a controlling method. <P>SOLUTION: In the case where it is detected by a control part 15A that the mechanical operation of a body part of the image forming apparatus 100 is carried out in the image forming apparatus 100, the control means 15A sets a timer, prohibits reception of printing data for a predetermined time T, and releases the reception prohibition of the printing data when counting of the timer passes the predetermined time. Accordingly, the copying user in front of the image forming apparatus 100 can be prevented from being kept waiting until a printing job end due to the fact that the printing job by another user at a place away from the image forming apparatus 100 is started after the copying user starts copying start preparation working other than the key input operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
