PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article retrieval system capable of immediately specifying a storing place in case of retrieving mails delivered during absence, for example. SOLUTION: The system comprises an article retrieving shelf 10 having storage parts 14 for storing cases 13 with radio tags for storing articles and provided with an antenna for a radio tag for each storage part 14, a switching means for sequentially outputting electric waves from the antenna for the radio tag, a retrieving means for retrieving if a retrieving ID is stored in the radio tag by outputting the electric waves from the antenna for the radio tag to the radio tag by the switching means, and a position specifying means for specifying a unique position of the radio tag containing the retrieving ID.
