PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem associated with a conventional technique in which when a reading error is detected at a specific place in a memory such as a CD, a DVD and a hard disk or the like, the memory can not be reused even though the disk is cleaned and the stain is eliminated. SOLUTION: In this invention, data from which an error is generated are mapped on the disk, the kind of the error is detected using pattern recognition and the kind of the error being generated is confirmed. When the error is discriminated to be a recoverable one such as a finger print and dust or the like, an instruction is provided to a user to clean the disk. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
