PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power shovel having a hinged counterweight capable of being opened/closed without removing for solving the problem that a conventional power shovel is very inconvenient because the counterweight has to be removed by using a crane or the like when a section in the neighborhood of the counterweight is inspected and maintained. SOLUTION: In the case of employing a single hinged counterweight, a support base 2 is attached on a left or right part of, and in the case of employing double hinged counterweights, supports 2 are attached on the left part and the right part of a main body frame of the power shovel in contact with the end part of the counterweight.
