PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic building board capable of exhibiting sufficient luminescence and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: A lower metallic coating layer 41 is formed on the design surface 201 of a starting ceramic board 2 by applying a first metallic coating material 40A containing 10 to 20 wt.%, based on the entire solids content, scaly luminescent material 5 in such a manner that the coating weight of the solids content is 15 to 25 g/m<SP>2</SP>and drying the applied first coating. An upper metallic coating layer 42 is formed on the lower metallic coating layer 41 by applying a second metallic coating material 42B containing 10 to 20 wt.%, based on the entire solids content, scaly luminescent material 5 onto the coating layer 41 in such a manner that the coating weight of the solids content is 5 to 9 g/m<SP>2</SP>and drying the applied second coating. The constituent scales of the luminescent material 5 are distributed in the upper metallic coating layer 42 so that they are substantially horizontal to the design surface 101 of the ceramic building board 1.
